Guest Mix: Kitti Varju

For the inaugural mix on Stationary Travels, I’d like to introduce Kitti Varju, a friend of the blog and writer for Hungarian online music magazine phenom’enonwho takes us on an exhilarating musical journey featuring both artists we’ve loved on Stationary Travels and some exciting new discoveries:

6-8-2015 6-38-20 AM

Featured artists:  Barabás Lőrinc, Greg Haines, iamyank, Ah! Kosmos, SOHN, Henrik José, Žagar, Sóley, Kiasmos, Tycho, Ben Chatwin, Ólafur Arnalds, Ben Lukas Boysen, Nils Frahm

“My playlist contains modern classical songs together with tracks from the electronic music scene. I think we can be thankful for labels like Denovali Records and Erased Tapes Records that support exceptional artists. I featured some of their musicians to show how many-sided people they have on board. You can also find some examples from the Hungarian music scene – in my opinion people wouldn’t think how many hidden treasures are hiding in my country. And I didn’t want to choose only instrumental songs so I mixed up my selection with some great vocalists.”

More about Kitti Varju:

“I am publishing articles on the Hungarian online music magazine called phenom’enon . I graduated as a journalist but this is not my full-time job, it’s just my dearest hobby. Otherwise I am a PR assistant. My purpose is to show the people unknown musicians from all over the world with the focus on the modern classical, ambient and minimal/electronic genres. If only one person says that he/she became a fan of the musician I featured in an article of mine, that is already a victory for me. I would like to compile playlists for this purpose and spread them all over the world through supportive blogs and websites like Stationary Travels. It is an honor to publish my first playlist over here where inspirational and wonderful music can be found together with a mindset of supporting similar artists.”
