Sound Impression: Sebastian Plano – Open Recording Sessions

Born in Argentina and based in Berlin, Sebastian Plano is a modern classical composer and multi-instrumentalist who has produced two notable albums that will resonate strongly with fans of the work of Max Richter, Nils Frahm, and Ólafur Arnalds. Recently he was filmed performing a series of mesmerizing open recording sessions at Superbudda in Turin, Italy. Switching from cello to piano to keyboards while triggering looped passages and manipulating pedals and effects, he is both a one man orchestra and digital puppet master. From the vibrantly kinetic to the achingly beautiful to the sweepingly cinematic, these are highly enjoyable works, all the more impressive for the skill and focus required to pull them off as a solo live performance.
