On the forthcoming new release Manor House, two artists with wide-ranging experience in an eclectic array of musical genres come together to create an understated gem of an EP. Iskra Strings, led by James Underwood, and Swiss DJ, filmmaker & producer Pablo Nouvelle are no strangers to collaboration. The former has worked with Radiohead, the late Jóhann Jóhannsson, Vampire Weekend, Sufjan Stevens, and Ólafur Arnalds just to name a few. Nouvelle is former architecture student turned film maker and musician known for his work inspired by a love of hip hop and the soul music of the 60s & 70s. Together they have created a lovely little modern classical confection comprising four delicately crafted tracks due out early next month on the 1631 Recordings imprint.
I am very pleased to be able to offer a glimpse of the new work here by way of the premiere of the second track on the EP called “As Mint”. Nouvelle frames the piece in restrained elegance with his keyboards while Iskra infuses it with tender emotion. Their respective styles fit hand-in-glove to create something quite beautiful.
The Manor House EP will be available for download and streaming in full beginning October 9, 2020.
