Sound Impression: Moments by Hotel Neon

The beautiful drones of Hotel Neon continue to hum as the ambient trio unveils two new albums this month, one to inaugurate the new year on Fluid Audio (more on that soon) and one on the Athens-based Sound In Silence imprint that you can wrap your ears around right now.

Following the dense ruminations of last year’s Vanishing Forms and the disquieting atmospherics of their spring EP Tortured Shapes, Moments draws from a softer palette. It is a solemn and peaceful journey, one that blissfully respires in wide open spaces hushed by rushing autumn breezes and sweeping orchestral undulations. This album is very much like drawing a long, slow, deep breath in clean air far from the madding crowd; just the right kind of company for spending time alone with one’s thoughts.

Moments was mastered by Taylor Deupree and features cover art by Benoît Pioulard. It is available in a deluxe limited edition of 100 hand-stamped and hand-numbered collectible copies packaged in a sewn fabric envelope which includes an exclusive eighth bonus track mastered by George Mastrokostas (aka Absent Without Leave) or in a standard limited edition of 200 which is also hand-stamped and hand-numbered.
