Trained originally as a drummer, praam is a Dutch composer based in Utrecht who turned his focus to solo piano. Since 2019 he has been creating calming musical narratives that seek to create space & time to experience emotion and perception outside the preoccupations of hectic daily life. Next month he will release his third album entitled luminance on the 1631 Recordings imprint.
In this exclusive premiere of the album’s first single, a lovely piece called “the ice beneath us”, you can hear how he uses melody, cadence, tone, and texture to break the tyranny of the mundane if only for a few minutes and transport us to somewhere other than here, a place where we can simply feel.
luminance will be released on March 19, 2021 by 1631 Recordings. In the meantime, you can enjoy praam’s earlier albums sentience and perceptionism on most digital streaming platforms.
