When two different artists whose work and tastes in music I admire both recommended this, I knew I needed to stop the presses and have a listen and I was not disappointed. “In Passing” is a fine EP resulting from a collaboration between UK artists Steve Gibbs and Cyrus Reynolds. Elements of ambient, electronica, and modern classical are all blended together seamlessly in well crafted arrangements with a sweet melancholic undercurrent. And, I appreciate the prominence of the analog instruments with very nuanced use of electronics to add dynamics and provide subtle ornamentation, all of which is very much in evidence on the title track.
