Boutique label and art studio Rottenman Editions welcomes Japanese artist, composer, & sound designer Shinji Wakasa to their roster this fall. Based in Yokosuka City, Wakasa does commercial & film music and is also part the techno duo Semiosis, but his solo effort here entitled Tranquilo Trasciendo is a delicate and introspective affair. Described as a “direct dialogue through his compositions between the human being and his environment”, the album consists of four electroacoustic ambient vignettes gently bustling with pastoral atmospheric elements and filigreed textures.
In this premiere of “Rera”, the album’s opening track, you can here the way Wakasa creates a sense stillness within a collage of moving sounds, a quiet dance of wind, water, and light accompanied by melodic exhalations and sparkling notes that light up like the synapses of fleeting thoughts and awakenings. Concise, minimal, and artfully packaged, Tranquilo Trasciendo makes for quite a pleasant and captivating diversion.
All editions feature art & photography by Meneh Peh and will be available from beginning September 25 in two limited editions- a vinyl LP with download code (15 copies) and CD (30 copies). There is also an option to purchase a digital copy with a full color poster print. Note the CD and digital downloads include two additional bonus tracks.
